What to do in and around the Resort and Vava'u
There are many great choices among the 40 totally unspoiled islands that make up this northern group.
Swimming with Humpback Whales in Vava'u, Tonga
From June to November, large numbers of whales arrive in these calm, safe waters to mate and have their calves. There are organised whale watching tours available and this is as close to these colossal mammals as you will get anywhere in the world.
Whale sightsings in Vava'u are reliable since the shallow coastline that the whales frequent is accessible to boats, in fact it's not uncommon for these beautiful sea creatures to pass in front of the Resort. Moreover, the humpback whales is among the most interesting of whales to observe owing to its impressive acrobatic displays such as fluke, flipper and head slapping, lob tailing, spy hopping, and breaching.
Scuba Diving in Vava'u, Tonga
Great all round diving in this region with exceptional visibility that is the envy of all other Pacific nations. Dive tours include wonderful wall diving and a number of excellent underwater caves in these waters that have rarely seen many other divers thus far. A number of dive boats are available and all relevant equipment can be hired. We support Paul and Karen Stone at Dive Vava'u and Al at Dolphin Pacific Diving. All dive boat operators pass by the Resort beach and offer complimentray pick up and drop off.
Fishing
Both big game and sport fishing charters are on offer and Vava’u is gaining a deserved reputation as a top fishing spot with fish of all sizes aplenty. Day charters can be taken out of Neiafu and both experienced and novice anglers can try their hand, with marlin, sailfish, barracuda, tuna, trevally and wahoo all there for the taking. We can put you into contact with any of the main operators, but it's best to hav this booked before you arrive at the Resort as the skippers and boats can at times be fully booked. They're operators that will fit every budget and expectation so in no particular order Henk at Target One Game Fishing, Jeff at Hakula, Keith at Kiwi Magic and Steve at Ika Lahi. Tight Lines!

Kayakers can choose from 5, 9 or 11 day packages, as well as special whale-watching expeditions. Camping on uninhabited islands, snorkelling around coral reefs, visits to authentic Tongan villages and bush walks are just a few of the many features of exploring the islands of Vava'u by sea kayak.
Beaches
This area boasts a number of superb beaches the equal to any in the Pacific and you can be taken to small islands for the day where you spend the time relaxing on the fine sands, swimming and snorkelling in places that are waiting for you to discover and never want to leave.
Staff at the resort can help organise any or all of these activities and places to visit to help make your stay a truly memorable one.
