“Backyard Paradise”

I was lucky enough to spend one night at The Tongan Beach Resort on a recent visit to Tonga. I work in the travel industry and spent a week visiting a number of properties in both Nukualofa & Vavau.

The Tongan Beach Resort was definitely one of the best.

After a little confusion I booked & confirm domestic flights from Nukualofa to Vavau on Chatham Pacific's new website. The transaction went smoothly and I was relieved to arrive at the airport and check in without any problems.

On arrival in Vavau I was welcomed at the airport by lovely Luana and transported to the resort where a cool drink and the ever friendly duty manager Koleti awaited.

The rooms are spacious, modern and very clean with a little porch where you can relax with a view of the beach and water. The hibiscus & fragipani flowers in the room was a nice touch too!

I ate dinner & breakfast at the resort with a view of the jetty, water with the sun setting on the horizon - magic! The meals were tasty and of a good size. Plus Koleti makes an amazing array of fruity cocktails.

Because of my brief stay I didnt get to participate in any of the activities. But there did seem to be plenty to do if you could drag yourself away from relaxing on the beach.

I would agree that Tonga as a whole would not be the place to visit if you are expecting well developed tourism industry and/or hotels of an international standard. I think that is the beauty of Tonga and The Tongan Beach Resort.

The food & beverage not just in Vavau but in Nukualofa was on the expensive side, however that is typical of an Island nation where just about everything is imported.

Congratulations to The Dyck family & the staff for creating this little touch of paradise. I wish my backyard looked that good!

I will be back, but for at least a week next time & with the family in tow!

“Paradise in Vavau”

Just back from a week at the Tongan Resort, Vava'u. Dieter and his family were excellent hosts, we were made so welcome.
we had a lovely time, excellent beach, food, staff, and will go back again. It would be even better when Chatham

Pacific get themselves sorted out - the purchasing of airtickets to get there and back was a nightmare!! found that you can book through Air New Zealand, Tongatapu, which we would do next time!! we felt that was diappointing as Chatham Pacific is NZ owned and operated. once the surity of our tickets was sorted, we were away.
even the roosters wouldn't deter us going back!!!!

Heaven on the beach

Six aussie friends had a fantastic week at the Tongan.

The Service,meals,rooms,beach, Boat,fishing,diving,snorkling, local villages, all excellent.

Thank-you to all the staff for taking such care of us all and displaying such pride in your work & beautiful resort.

Lobster for breakfast, what more can I say

We've just arrived home in OZ from a week at the Tongan Beach Resort and we want to get on a plane and fly back.

Vava'u is the northern group of islands in Tonga. If flying, you'll arrive in the Tongan capital Nuku'alofa then take a domestic flight to Vava'u. We made this trip to swim with the Humpback whales for my 40th birthday and luckily booked the Tongan Beach Resort to stay at.

The resort has its own private beach with good entry level snorkelling. It has its own jetty too, which is great because any boat trip or tour you book will pick you up right there at the resort.

The Staff there are fantastic, Happy and genuinely Friendly. The rooms were spotlessly clean as was the whole resort. This alone is a good enough reason to stay. But wait.... the food was something else.

The day we arrived, David the SuperChef said he'd just bought 40 kilos (90 lbs) of freshly caught lobster. When we checked the menu you could have lobster for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So I did. You should definitely go with the Full Meal package. Just awesome.

It's a short Taxi ride to the main Port for shopping. The ride is $10US but if you car-pool with 4 or 6 people it's not alot.

I can recommend the Tongan Beach Resort to nearly everyone, except die-hard party animals. We stayed a week and that was too short. All our love to the Staff and Dieter,

A wonderful experience at The Tongan Beach Resort

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tongan Beach Resort. The staff were helpful, and friendly and catered for our every need.The food was delicious and the rooms were relaxed and comfy. Thank you Luanna, Colleen, Deiter and all the other lovely people who are employed at The Tongan. All the staff took great care and pride in their work from the groundsmen to waitresses, office staff and the rest.
