Local Entertainment
Fiefa /Tongan Feast
Wednesday nights are special with our Fiefia Night/Tongan Feast with entertainment from the Tongan Beach Boys Band. The cost: 45 Pa’anga per person.
This is held most Wednesday evenings and is a unique opportunity for you to experience local Tongan cuisine (combined with some European cuisine for those not so keen!), presented in a buffet style. You are welcome to experience the cooking process of the UMU, which is a traditional underground oven still used in everyday life by the locals.
Our umu is behind the Sand Bar - the food will go in to the umu at approximately 5.00pm and be taken out again at approximately 6.00pm. The evening usually starts around 6.30pm, with entertainment from the children of our local primary school and you can show your appreciation for the entertainers with a donation, which goes to the group to be used for school uniforms, school fees etc.
The Buffet is served at 7.00pm. After Dinner our staff will often entertain you with further traditional dancing with donations divided between those who entertain. Tipping is not a custom in Tonga, but you can show your appreciation by placing dollar notes on the oiled skin of the dancers!
Backyard Paradise
"I was lucky enough to spend one night at The Tongan Beach Resort on a recent visit to Tonga. I work in the travel industry and spent a week visiting a number of properties in both Nukualofa & Vavau.....The Tongan Beach Resort was definitely one of the best.....Congratulations to The Dyck family & the staff for creating this little touch of paradise. I wish my backyard looked that good!
I will be back, but for at least a week next time & with the family in tow!"
